David Tennant finally returning to the dark side for “AKA Jessica Jones”

Today Marvel announced that David Tennant (Doctor Who) has been cast as another bad guy! Finally. Returning to the dark side in AKA Jessica Jones as Kilgrave!

Netflix has struck an info page for the show on their site and released some information about the show:

After a tragic ending to her short-lived superhero stint, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City. An enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past, Kilgrave reappears, sending shockwaves through the former superhero’s world.

Producer of the show Melissa Rosenberg told us, “I’m so honored and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character,” said Rosenberg. “He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He’ll make Kilgrave a truly original villain.”

I totally agree with her, I remember him in the Harry Potter movies as the guy who needed some chapstick.

“Anyone familiar with David’s work knows he brings an incredible level of dedication to any role he inhabits, a level we knew we would need from the man playing Kilgrave,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television. “While most know him for his roles as a hero, we can’t wait to unleash a whole new side of this talented actor.”

The fun thing about Zebediah Killgrave is that he was actually introduced in the Daredevil comics as an international spy and worked his way into the Jessica Jones series. Even though no one has said this, Netflix also has the upcoming Daredevil series coming up in April…. all the Netflix/Marvel shows are set in Hell’s Kitchen and Marvel is known for having tie-ins throughout their entire universe. Plus, they haven’t said it’s NOT happening.

Besides Tennant and Ritter, Mike Colter has also been attached to the project to play the POWERFUL Luke Cage, he will also have his own spin-off show toward the end of the year.
