If you were a kid in the 90s than your favorite science teacher came with an opening credit sequence. Bill Nye the Science Guy has helped shape a generation of people who have gone on to do great things, two of those people were filmmakers David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg.
The kickstarter for the Bill Nye Documentary has a massive goal of $650,000 and promises to use every inch of that into making this the best film it can be and will be starring the people the film is intended for… the fans! Alvarado and Sussberg said:
“We’re documentary filmmakers, but we’re also hardcore Bill Nye fans who spent our middle school years learning about the ecosystem and the color spectrum from his trusty VHS tapes. Bill’s passion and enthusiasm stayed with us, and when we got older, we started making films about science and technology. When we learned that Bill Nye was doing something new, working outside of the classroom to champion science and space exploration and the fight against climate change, we knew we had to make this documentary.”
These two gentleman are responsible for making the documentary The Immortalists which focused on the science of aging and how two people are devoted to finding a cure for it. The documentary is currently streaming ON NETFLIX and has all the makings of a doc that can grab your attention and it left me wanting more. So much more that when they announced yesterday that those same filmmakers are teaming up to make a documentary about Bill Nye… I had to spread the word!
The page is full of kick-ass incentives including Bill Nye bow ties and original written limerick by the science guy himself. If you want to see how these two filmmakers are able to pull a grand story out of a simple premise I encourage you to give The Immortalists a watch, then imagine what they could do with a comedic personality like Bill Nye! Please take a moment to help make this film a reality and donate!
