Punch Drunk TV Ep. 17: The Really Real O’Neals

After a week off, we have returned to drink, eat loudly into the mic and get mad about bad TV. Ready? Here’s the NEWS:

Nicholas Meyer, the director of “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” has joined CBS’ new “Star Trek” series as writer and executive producer. Gene Roddenberry’s son also joins as exec producer and Bryan Fuller will be showrunner.

Fuller House” already renewed for a second season.

Big Hero 6″ is being developed as a TV show by Disney. 

DC’s “Powerless” pilot has cast Community’s Danny Pudi, Firefly’s Alan Tudyk and Vanessa Hudgens in the series about folks who clean up the damage superheroes leave behind. 

Ariana Grande will host and be the musical guest on the March 12 episode of “SNL.” Disney has greenlit a “High School Musical 4” and is on the lookout for the next Zac Efron. 

Sig Hanson almost died on the set of “The Deadliest Catch” while the cameras were rolling, the captain of the Northwestern had a heart attack on camera. 

Ian McShane will play Mr. Wednesday in Bryan Fuller’s “American Gods” series.

John Landgraf, president of FX, said they let Sarah Paulson say “motherfucker” in an episode of “People v OJ Simpson” because her not saying it would’ve made the show “weaker.” 

Netflix has a new temp job they are offering called “Grammasters” where they will send people around the country to take Instagram photos from the sets of their shows for $2000 a week. Only four people will be hired.
