‘Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp’ is All About Teens In Their 40s

Can actors and actresses in their 40s still play teenagers? Co-creators of Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, David Wain and Michael Showalter, felt that an audience can put up with a little suspended belief in order for a talented cast to return to the series.

This series serves as a prequel for the cult fans of Wet Hot American Summer, and you get to see Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper and Elizabeth Banks before they made it big. The timeline and backstory may not always make sense, but fans of the original movie are just appreciative of the fact that Wet Hot American Summer is being resurrected.

Although this will be shown as a series on Netflix, Wain stated that, “From a process and production point of view, more than anything we had to approach it like a four-hour movie.” Wain also went on to say that he had a giant script, and the crew only started to look at the footage as episodes in post-production.

Everyone from the original series will return, and Lake Bell, Jason Schwartzman and John Hamm offer fresh faces to the series. First Day of Camp will be ready for your anxious eyes on July 31st, 2015.
