Every avid Netflix’r knows the struggle of the Netflix recommendation… getting caught in the “droll scroll”… being so overwhelmed with titles that you end up spending hours scrolling through the movies you MIGHT want to watch, but not picking anything. The struggle is real. There’s thousands of titles on Netflix and here you are sitting at a screen in silence… You can go to the Netflix “recommendations” but they go off what you’ve watched on Netflix… not what you’re currently in the mood for!
That’s where Sense comes in.. it’s like Siri for your Netflix needs. Sense is an text driven AI whose mission is to help you decide what to watch! Essentially, the user texts live Netflix concierges that use their expert knowledge of what is available on Netflix to give you a personalized, human recommendation on what to watch.
Their site states, “The main point is that it was extremely hard for me to find movies on Netflix that I really enjoyed,” said co-founder and CEO Jake Cohn to iDigitalTimes about what inspired the creation of Sense. “I began talking to people about it and reading online, and you start to see that there are a lot of people who feel the same way.”
All you have to do is send a text to 213-297-3673 asking for a recommendation. From there you get asked what movies you’ve seen and liked RECENTLY and WHY you liked it. Then after a few moments you get a few suggestions on what to watch! They send you the link AND the trailer if you haven’t already seen it. It’s free and simple!
I had my go at this service. Tried for something simple. Something I knew fairly well, so I could spot a deep cut or just something they could easily google to find out…
While I eventually found my self feeling bad for the person for giving it the old college try… I just can’t get over the fact that they said I should give Gave Encounters 2 a try…
I really like that they personalize it and it seems like they’re really trying to get you to find something you like. At the end they did land on a movie I haven’t actually seen… I’ve heard of Proxy but never enough to actually give it a watch, but for some reason the Netflix recommendation coming from a complete stranger, makes me feel like… I should actually watch it.
What are some movies Sense has recommended you watch!? Let me know in the comments below!
